What are chronic dense floaters?
Floaters are considered chronic when they last for several months and show no signs of improvement. Chronic floaters may also be dense, meaning that they impact daily tasks including reading and driving. If they do, then there is an option to surgically remove these floaters, called a ‘vitrectomy’. This is a safe, short outpatient surgery done under local anesthesia. Dr. Taban has performed hundreds of these vitrectomies for chronic large floaters over the last decade, including on his own father.
